4. D ISCUSSION  Identify your spiritual, physical, emotional, and social needs in the span of a day.

5. D ISCUSSION  In which areas do you more naturally desire restoration?  Are there areas that you consider optional to desire restoration?  What does that say about what you believe happened at the Fall?

6. DISCUSSION  How have you been motivated to be merciful out of one of these bad motives?  When you are tempted to close your heart to someone who is poor, why is that the case?  How can we fight to be motivated by the gospel?

7. M ATTHEW 5:38-42  “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41 And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.”

DISCUSSION  In each of these scenarios, discuss what a relief-based response looks like and what a development-based response looks like and what you think a “balanced” response might look like:  A guy is holding up a sign that he’s hungry…  Someone in your MC just got laid off…  A friend wants to ask a girl out on a date…  Your brother wants to go to college…
