3 Hypothesis Test Franklin Tire Company Issue: The company wants to make the claim in advertisements that its new tire will average more than 60,000 miles. Objective: Use Minitab to test whether the population mean tire mileage exceeds 60,000 miles. Data file is Franklin.MTW

4 Open File Frankin.MTW File contains sample data for 100 tires Hypothesis Test - Franklin

5 Click on Stat – Basic Statistics – 1-Sample t Hypothesis Test - Franklin

6 Define variable of interest. Specify hypothesized mean. Click on Options. Hypothesis Test - Franklin

7 Select the confidence level (1 – alpha)100 and appropriate alternative hypothesis (greater than in this case) Hypothesis Test - Franklin Click OK - OK

8 Hypothesis Test - Franklin Calculated test statistic = 0.36 P-value = 0.359. Based on these results, we do not reject Ho.
