Participant universities: - Cagliari - Cluj-Napoca - Munich - Padua - Pécs - Prague The Universities of Munich and Zadar have joined the IP Seminar this year. - Seville - Sofia - Tartu - Udine - Zadar

Aims of the XIV IP: -Expanding the knowledge on environmental conflicts, sustainable water policies, territorial planning, tourism impact, climate change; -Identifying key relations among water uses, environmental conflicts and local development in case study areas; -Identifying best practices for sustainable use of water resources; - Identifying challenges and responses to climate change.

Methodology: - Lectures on physical and human geography of Sardinia; - Scientific materials; - Fieldwork (in situ research, developing analysis skills, meeting and interviewing local stakeholders); - Co-operative learning (assisted group work); - Involvement and participation; - Use of ICTs.

Four stages: 1. Lectures and presentations (June 27 th - June 28 th ); 2. Fieldtrips (June 29 th - July 3 rd ); 3. Main working group sessions (July 4 th - July 5 th ); 4. Final presentations (July 6 th ).

Three case studies: - Environmental conflicts and territorial planning in wetlands: the case of the Regional Park of Molentargius - Saline; - Sustainable water policies in tourist areas: the case of Villasimius; - Facing climate change and desertification: the case of the network of reservoirs in inner Sardinia.

First fieldtrip: - Wednesday, June 29 th - Reservoir of Nuraghe Arrubiu, River Flumendosa, and mountain town of Orroli.

Second fieldtrip: - Thursday, June 30 th - Tourist town of Villasimius and Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara.

Third fieldtrip: - Friday, July 1 st - Regional Natural Park of Molentargius - Saline, wetlands, salt flats and beach within the urban area of Cagliari.

Fourth fieldtrip: - Saturday, July 2 nd - Reservoir of Poggio dei Pini, Capoterra, and Lagoon of Nora.

Fifth fieldtrip: - Sunday, July 3 rd - Mining area of Montevecchio and sand dunes of Piscinas, Site of Community Importance.

Other activities: - Tuesday, June 28 th - Urban History and Geography of Cagliari.
