2 Introduction (i)  The advertised 54 Mbps bandwidth for IEEE 802.11a/g wireless LAN interface is the peak link- layer data rate.  The bandwidth problem is further aggravated for multi-hop ad hoc networks due to interference from adjacent hops on the same path as well as from neighboring paths.

3 Introduction (ii)  Bandwidth aggregation is routinely used in 802.11 -based wireless LANs that operate in infrastructure mode, where traffic to and from wireless nodes is distributed among multiple interfaces of an access point or among multiple access points.
