Geothermal Energy

How Is The Energy Converted Into A Usable Form Of Energy? After the water and how steam have been used, they are reinjected back into the earth.

What Is It Used For? Geothermal Is Known For Electricity Generation.

What Are Its Benefits? Geothermal energy is used to heat and cool homes and businesses, heat commercial greenhouses, generate electricity, dehydrate food and to dry fruit and vegetable products.

What Are Its Drawbacks ? The geothermal fluid is worse at a low temperature compared to steam from boilers. By the laws of thermodynamics the low temperature of the geothermal fluid limits the efficiency of heat engines in extracting useful energy during the generation of electricity.

What Are Government Plans For Full Implementation/Conversion? The Geothermal Technologies Program (GTP) carries out technology research, development, and deployment through an ongoing process of planning and analysis, implementation, and review.

Why Is It Not Our Number One Source Of Energy Currently? The only thing that holds it back from being a dominant energy platform is the lack of hydrothermal reservoirs throughout the world.

What Does It Release Into The Environment And How Does This Affect The Environment? Global warming poses significant environmental and health impacts, including flood risks, glacial melting problems, forest fires, increases in sea level, and loss of biodiversity. The process of extracting geothermal fluids which include gases, steam and water for power generation removes heat from natural reservoirs at over 10 times their rate of replenishment.

Wind Energy

How Is The Energy Converted Into A Usable Form Of Energy? Wind is the flow of gases on a large scale.

What Is It Used For? Wind power is eliminate the use of fossil fuels because the technology is cost effective, the industry is strong, and get more than enough wind to meet the energy needed.

What Are Its Benefits? Wind Energy Helped Increase Local Tax, Fresh Water, wind energy, offers homegrown energy, which increases national security.

What Are Its Drawbacks? Wind turbines generally produce allot less electricity than the average fossil fuelled power station, requiring multiple wind turbines to be built in order to make an impact. Wind construction can be very expensive and costly to surrounding wildlife during the build process.

What Are Government Plans For Full Implementation/Conversion? They intend to develop as many wind farms as its electricity grid can support, effectively diversifying its energy supply beyond hydropower and fossil fuels.

Why Is It Not Our Number One Source Of Energy Currently? Sometimes the windmills can go wrong because buildings can cause the wind to be too turbulent for use in wind generation

What Does It Release Into The Environment And How Does This Affect The Environment? Wind energy is 100% clean and renewable and doesn't pollute our air or water.
