2 Characteristics Rigel is the brightest star in its constellation, Orion. Rigel is the 7th brightest star in the sky. Rigel is a bluish supergiant star. Rigel is 40,000 times brighter then the sun. Rigel is 78 times larger than the sun/ 4 times 10 to the 10th power Rigel is light years away from the sun.

4 Constellation The constellation that Rigel is in is Orion. One story from this culture gives an interesting account of Orion's death. Here he is called Aqhat, and was a handsome and famous hunter. The Battle-Goddess Anat fell in love with Aqhat, but when he refused to lend her his bow, she sent another man to steal it. This chap bungled the job, and wound up killing Aqhat and dropping the bow into the sea. This is said to explain the astronomical fact that Orion and the Bow (an older version of the constellation) drops below the horizon for two months every spring. The star is the left foot of Orion.

5 Life Cycle Rigel formed into a star by starting out with just a bunch of dust and gas together. Then it got enough gravity to form into nuclear fusion, which made it become a star. Rigel started in Orion Nebula and will end in supernova. Right now Rigel in the supergiant stage. Rigel will become a neutron star or black star.

6 Life Cycle continued… Rigel would be the bottom lifecycle..
