2 Corn - Facts Did you know corn is America’s #1 field crop?
Corn can grow between 4 to 12 feet tall and is a member of the “grass” family. Corn can be eaten right off the cob, or processed into cereals, peanut butter, snack foods, and ethanol.

3 Corn – Fun Facts The fruit of the corn is the “kernel”.
The “ear” is a collection of kernels on the cob. There are always an even number of rows of kernels.

4 Corn – Fun Facts The ear is wrapped in leaves called the “husk.”
The flowers that emerge from the top of the husk are called, “silks.” An ear of corn averages 800 kernels in 16 rows. A pound of corn has 1300 kernels.
