Grace Fellowship Church www.GraceDoctrine.org Pastor/Teacher - Jim Rickard Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Memory Verse Heb 13:5, “Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”

John 14:24b Authority Orientation to the Word of God!

John 14:24b, “And the Word which you all hear, (GAP through the ear gate), is not Mine, (Jesus’), but the Father’s who sent me.”

Principles: 1) The source of Bible Doctrine is God. “The Word of God” Rom 9:6; 1 Cor 14:6; Eph 6:17; Col 1:25

2) Jesus Christ and God the Father are co-equal as members of the God head / Trinity. John 10:30; 14:9b-10

3) Bible Doctrine is the thinking of Jesus Christ. John 14:21, 23-24; 1 Cor 2:16; Col 3:16; 1 Tim 6:3

Col 3:16, “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

4) In hypostatic union Jesus reveals His submission to the Father’s Plan, John 8:42; 13:3b. God the Father dispatched Jesus to planet earth to fulfill His Plan, John 13:16; 14:24.

John 8:42, “Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me.””

5) In hypostatic union Jesus reveals His authority orientation to God the Father by giving all the credit to Him. John 7:16-18; 12:49; 14:10.

6) In hypostatic union Jesus reveals His authority orientation to the Word of God in the Prototype Spiritual life. John 8:54-55.

7) To rebel against Jesus’ Word is not just rejecting the word of a mere man but God Himself. It is to rebel against God the Father who sent Him.

8) Disobedience to Christ’s Word and a lack of love for Him are inseparable. If you have one you have the other.

9) The “world” will never sense the reality of Jesus because it does not love Him, and thus will not obey His Word.

But you and I who love Him and want to please Him, will sense His presence as we obey.

10) Obedience to His mandates is not just a simple expression of love and courtesy towards God, but a testimony of your life in subjection to His divine authority.

11) How you treat His Word is how you treat God Himself.

12) Love for Christ motivates obedience to God’s Word. To those, Christ will make Himself known.

13) All who rightly know anything of Christ, earnestly desire to know more of Him.

14) Our authority orientation to God’s Word both guards our soul on a daily basis and demonstrates our love for Him.

15) Stop worrying about how bad everyone else is, and start focusing on your own personal relationship with the Lord. Mat 7:3-5; Luke 6:41-45
