3 Population and Climate Hong Kong has an estimated population of 5.78 million people in an area about half the size of Rhode Island. The area is mostly mountainous and has a tropical climate with seasonal monsoons.

4 Language and Religion The two official languages in Hong Kong are Chinese and English. The Cantonese dialect is also frequently used. There is a large diversity of philosophical and religious beliefs, including Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Christianity.
