1 HTC Library Orientation

2 Library’s Mission Our primary mission is to support the academic programs of Hebrew Theological College. The Library strives to provide a collection that is actively used by our students and campus community for their classes. The library is not only a place, but a set of services we provide.

3 Services We Provide Research assistance Citation expertise Guidance in evaluating websites Individual appointments with librarians Book recommendations

5 Services We Provide, Continued… Collections of guides & web resources on library website Access to universities with reciprocal agreements. HTC students can use Loyola & Spertus. Facilitate access to local public libraries

6 Saul Silber Memorial Library Main library –third floor of the HTC administration building Beis Midrash library and Chadar Iyun –synagogue building (non-circulating) Blitstein Institute Library –Upstairs in the 2600 building You can access all the resources of HTC’s Library. Materials can be sent between campuses.

7 Library Hours Sunday from 1:00-3:00pm Monday -Thursday from 12:30-5:45pm Friday from 11:00am-1:00pm Our staff is available most times via email or phone. Available in office on 2 nd floor

8 How to Find Materials The library uses the Library of Congress & the Friedus Classification systems. Locate materials using the online catalog. Access the library catalog by going to htc.edu, select Saul Silber Memorial Library under “Libraries.” Click the link under “Library Catalog.” The majority of the collection is located in the stacks in the main library. Our staff is always happy to help you find what you are looking for.

9 Borrowing Procedures A librarian or library assistant can check out books for you.

10 Academic Databases Thanks to our merger with Touro, we are able to offer access to incredible databases that will make doing research so much better! https://erms.tourolib.org

11 Outside of the Library Loyola University Library –HTC has a reciprocal agreement with Loyola, which entitles you to take out books and do research on campus. Asher Library at the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies Public Libraries –Chicago Public Library –Skokie Public Library –Your Local Library
