2 log with same base on both sides
Use this property for logarithms with the same base: logb x = logb y if and only if x = y

3 log with same base on both sides
Solve log3 (5x – 1) = log3 (x + 7) Property states that numbers must be equal  log3 (5x – 1) = log3 (x + 7) then, just solve for x 5x – 1 = x + 7 -x +1 -x +1 4x = 8 x = 2

4 log on just one side Solve by Exponentiating
Solve log5 (3x + 1) = 2 5log5 (3x + 1) = 52 Expressions become exponents, use the base given with the logarithm 3x + 1 = 25 2. Solve for x -1 -1 3x = 24 x = 8
