3 WHAT IS A “CREDIT”? Granted (by semester) upon successful completion of a course. A “D” is a passing grade. 2 semesters = 1 year 1 full-year course = 1 credit ½ year course = ½ credit

4 REQUIRED CREDITS FOR EACH CLASS Sophomore status (10 th -grader) = 5 credits Junior status (11 th grader) = 12 credits Senior status (12 th grader) = 17 credits with the potential to graduate. TOTAL CREDITS NEEDED TO GRADUATE: 24 Credits REQUIRED CLASSES: 4 Math 4 English 4 Social Studies 3 Science Health P.E. Fine Arts 2 Electives

11 HONORS VS. GENERAL COURSES Honors classes are determined by Westest scores, ACT Explorer results and teacher recommendation. An honors class can earn you a one point bump in GPA.: Honors A = 5 Quality Points Honors B = 4 Quality Points Honors C = 3 Quality Points Honors D = 2 Quality Points You do not have to take all honors classes – you can take 1, 2, or 3+ honor classes depending on your strengths.
