Claude Monet was a French painter whose work started the famous art movement Impressionism (a movement in art history). This included capturing light and natural forms. He lived in France and liked to paint outdoors. He had a very inspirational talent and a personality, and loved to bring ideas together. He was inspired by the Realists' interest in painting in the open air. Monet then would draw outdoor sceneries many times as part of the series he used to paint. He would continuously paint the same scenery in different times of the day. Soon is artwork was always abstract but still beautiful. His artwork never really was patterns but did show shadow.

With Claude Monet’s work he started the Impressionist Art Movement which is a style or movement in painting from France that focused on shifting light or color. Which is exactly what Monet did with a lot of his work. He was impactful because it allowed people to see the scenery with reflections and sunlight or moonlight with natural forms. Since Monet created a series of the same scenery in different times throughout the day his audience could see the difference in color, value, and sometimes form and shape (depending on the painting).

 In both works there are Water Lilies!  The pink color of the lilies are close in shade  Both used a type of oil medium in the art.  Both used similar shade of blue for the water. (As you can see not many similarities  )

Sadalge Monet  Emphasis only one lily  Lily pads are more detailed since drawing is more focused on one part  Doesn’t look like scenery but just a painting: Surrealistic  Has more contrast everything stands out on its own.  Has many lilies in the drawing.  Included the reflection of the trees in the water.  The lily pads are simpler not as much detail  Looks like an actual scenery in nature: Realistic  Left more water open in the painting with separate  Artwork included more balance  Includes a variety of types of color lilies  Everything is in unity it all makes sense together since its in a scenery.

No, I think the artist would not have liked my work. My work lacks many of the contents that Monet’s paintings have, he has such great realism in his artwork, which I was trying to achieve but failed to do so. Also every time I look at his painting I find something new, but in my painting the only new thing you will find every time is mistakes . Monet has his own flawless sense of style which isn’t perfect, I tend to want my paintings to be perfect but instead they turn out worse than what I had in mind.

This is what I think would have happened if I was born in his time period, drew this exact same painting and sent it to him: “ Bonjour Mailman, oh let me see what you have got there. Oh my it looks like a painting from Ritika Sadalge. Wow, this painting is nice but lacks realism, I wish it looked like an actual nature painting then I would have truly loved it. I guess it would have also looked better with different art mediums as well. Maybe a little movement as if the lily is actually floating in the water would make it wondrous! Oh servant may I please have some coffee! Hmmmmmm. Aha! This would have been truly wonderful if the color had blended a bit more.” “Well let me get ready on writing a letter of my opinion back to this child. And can you please hurry up with the coffee and bring some Euro’s for this mailman” 2 minutes later……. “Why thank you for the mail young man. Au revoir. Let me get started now”

“For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life - the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.” – Claude Monet
