DESIGN TEMPLATES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY OF POWERPOINT

Introduction This document contains design templates intended to improve the quality and productivity of presentations. These templates were created with “PowerPoint 2010”. These templates have been optimized for mainly viewing proposals and plans on “A4 size paper or a computer screen”. If you use them for lectures on a projector, please increase the font size and take other measures to make them more readable. 1 #E15101

About the author Occupation: A marketer who likes design. Operates a “PowerPoint Design” informational site that clearly explains presentation materials from a design perspective. harutosuzuki 2 #E15101

A Christmas Carol Once upon a time—of all the good days in the year, on Christmas Eve—old Scrooge sat busy in his counting-house. It was cold, bleak, biting weather: foggy withal: and he could hear the people in the court outside, go wheezing up and down, beating their hands upon their breasts, and stamping their feet upon the pavement stones to warm them. The city clocks had only just gone three, but it was quite dark already—it had not been light all day—and candles were flaring in the windows of the neighbouring offices, like ruddy smears upon the - 6. Text (Body) Set the font size to “16–18pt”. Use the achromatic color from the theme colors for the text color. Set the line spacing to “1.2-1.4lines”, spacing before paragraphs to “0pt”, and spacing after paragraphs to “6-12pt”. Set the text alignment to “Justified” in principle. Heading and Body Body 10 #E15101

Supplement | Line Spacing Settings Example of setting the “Line Spacing” The line spacing for text is in the presentation tools “paragraph” function. Example of setting the line spacing to “1.4lines”. 11 the court was of the narrowest, the houses opposite were mere phantoms. To see the dingy cloud come drooping down, obscuring everything, one might have thought that Nature lived hard by, and was brewing on a large scale. Avoid blank line breaks as much as possible. Example of setting spacing after paragraph to “12pt”. 12 #E15101

It was cold, bleak, biting weather: foggy withal: and he could hear the people in the court outside, go wheezing up and down, beating their hands upon their breasts, and stamping their feet upon the pavement stones to warm them. Headings Set the font size to “24pt”. Use the main color from the theme colors for the text color. Set the line spacing to “1.2-1.4lines”, spacing after paragraphs to “12-18pt”, and spacing before paragraphs to “24pt” or more. Set the text alignment to “Left”. Heading and Body Headings 14 #E15101

8. Bullet Lists Use the “Bullets and Numbering” feature for bullet lists. Set the line spacing to “1.0-1.4lines”, spacing before paragraph to “0pt”, and spacing after paragraph to “6-12pt”. (However, set the spacing before paragraph of the parent element to “12pt or higher”.) Bullet Lists 15 List Parent Element. ⁃ List Child Element. The line spacing is set to “1.2lines” and the space after paragraph is set to “6pt”. ⁃ List Child Element #2. List Parent Element. Line spacing before paragraph is set to “12pt”. This makes a wide space right before the list. Line Spacing 1.0-1.4pt Spacing after paragraph for child elements 6-12pt Spacing before paragraph for parent elements 12pt or higher #E15101

Supplement | The “Bullets and Numbering” Dialog Box Select “Bullets and Numbering” from the “Home” tab. 16 #E15101

For bullet lists, do you adjust the indents by hand!? It's much easier to use the PowerPoint function!! 17 #E15101

9. Tables Use the “Table” function in PowerPoint for tables. Consider legibility when adjusting table borders, background colors, and character placement. Tables No.NameQtyUnit PriceTotal 1Product A1$100 2Product B3$300$900 3Product C5$500$2,500 4Product D7$700$4,900 5Product E9$900$8,100 Total$16,500 Border Thickness 0.5pt Border Color Achromatic Color Center item numbers Left-align names Right-align numbers 18 #E15101

10. Supplementary Explanation / Notes Set the font size to “8pt”. It is also possible to write supplementary explanation and notes in the footer as exceptions. Use the accent color as necessary in the notes. * Here is a supplementary explanation. Use the font size of "8pt." * It is also fine to change the color of notes. Supplementary Explanation / Notes 19 #E15101

11. Sub-Content / 12. Bullets Use the achromatic sub-color for the background. Reduce contrast to lower the priority of the information and add reference information. Also use bullets to effectively utilize a small space. * This area is used to list sub-content. * To list information of a lower level than the main information in the presentation, make the background color a light gray to reduce contrast. * Use a “*” for the bullet. Sub-Content Bullets 20 #E15101

Set the background color to plain white. List the title and CI (Corporate identity, logo, contributor) in the center. 13. Cover Page 21 DESIGN TEMPLATES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY OF POWERPOINT #E15101
