Remembering Who we are Christians: Remembering the commitment you made to Christ in the waters of baptism If you are not YET a Christian: Remembering what you need to do to bring you into favor with God (Luke 2:52).

I want the approval of God, not the approval of the “cool” Many will be trying to fit in with “the cool” James 2:1-4 – That’s not to take place in the church Who are the cool (vs. 5-7)? – Often they are those who revile Christians – Often they are those who blaspheme God – Those who “party” and engage in much sinful activity An example in Jesus (John 4:7-9, 27) I Challenge you this year to be Like Christ!

I will do my best A common mindset: “I will do as little as possible” – Dangerous thinking (Prov. 13:4) – Diligence: Applying oneself, working hard The mindset we need to have: – Col. 3:23 (slave/school) – We are working for the Lord! – Your “job”: school “work”/ home “work” Instead a lot of people make excuses/complain – We must learn this now b/c this situation will occur again

Show Kindness to Others Mark 1:40-41 – Jesus could have performed the miracle without doing that. Jesus shows kindness constantly – Embraces children (Matt. 19:14) – Allows for interruptions (Luke 18:38) – Talks to people one on one (John 4) A shortage of kindness in the world – Schools are really short on kindness.

Show Kindness to Others Schools are really short on kindness – Kids can be incredible sweet and sincere – Kids can be incredibly cruel! Kids can be unkind not only in what they say and do but what they don’t do Our school need kids who will go out of their way to be kind and be like Christ! This is a lifetime habit (Eph. 4:32) This is something every kid can do and every kid will have the opportunity to do!

You are part of the family of God All this might seem pretty overwhelming 2 Cor. 1:8-11 – You are not in this alone – You are part of a spiritual family – We care about you – We are praying for you!

Tomorrow you will have an Opportunity to put this into practice To gain the approval of God To do your best To show kindness to others To believe that you are not alone. Remember who you are!!!
