1 Latin II – Tuesday, 11/3  Attendance/prayer  What do we need to accomplish today?  Lines 1-20 quiz  Continuation of story translation  Overview and fill in of vocabulary.  Review of Class Day. Homework: 1. Finish story 2. Start vocabulary section of packet.

2 Chapter 27 – story translation  EUCLEIDES: But it is dangerous to sit near the racetrack. Your father said many things about danger.  MARCUS: There is no danger, for Titus, my uncle is accustomed to sit near the racetrack with friends.  SEXTUS: Look! Caesar, himself, already has risen; he is prepared to give a signal. I shall favor the reds.  MARCUS: I (shall favor) the whites.  CORNELIA: I (shall favor) the blues.

3 Chapter 27 – story translation  MARCUS: Look! The cloth! It is the signal!  CORNELIA: How fiercely those charioteers beat the horses! How quickly they drive the horses! How reckless they are! Surely, they fear death?  SEXTUS: Look! My reds will certainly be the winner, for he leads the horses with great skill.  MARCUS: Oh poor me! My charioteer turned away the horses. Beware the post! Beware the post! Are you half asleep, stupid? Why did you not avoid the post?

4 Chapter 27 – story translation  CORNELIA: Alas! That charioteer fell. He is lying on the ground. Is he dead?  SEXTUS: No! No! Look! He regained his spirit. He is now getting up.  CORNELIA: Did you all hear the shouts of these spectators? They always shout the names of the charioteers and the horses in a loud voice!  The shouting is huge on all sides! I never heard such noise.
