1 Do Now: on a scale of 1-4 what do you score your self when it comes to simplifying radicals and why? After we get partners you are going to the Ouchi website or edmodo and download today’s lesson.

2  SWBAT construct, analyze, and write expressions involving square roots in simplest radical form with at least 70% accuracy by the end of class and will compare solutions with a partner to determine the accuracy of their own solution  SWBAT design, analyze, and match equivalent expressions involving square roots with at least 70% accuracy by the end of class and will compare solutions with a partner to determine the accuracy of their own solution.

3  TRY following these steps…  A square root is in simplest form if it has no factors that are a perfect square.  To simplify a square root, write it as a product of a perfect square and another factor.  Find the square root of the perfect square and write it outside the square root symbol.  Rewrite the remaining factor inside the square root symbol.  The value of a simplified square root is always positive.  If that didn’t work TRY THESE..  Use our Unit 4 Lesson 1 notes and summary of math as a guide  Use your square root chart created in lesson 1  Use our properties of exponent worksheets as a guide.  Use a factor tree  Check your work/work backwards  Ask a partner  Ask a student tutor  Use this example as a guide
