3 COACH LEARNING EXPERIENCE # 9 Floodlight Vision Objective: #1- Participants will be introduced to the concept of Floodlight Vision Floodlight Vision is an intentional way of thinking that focuses on strengths, possibilities, solutions and success. 3

4 COACH LEARNING EXPERIENCE # 9 Floodlight Vision Floodlight Vision means standing back and asking “what else is there? This means looking at the past- present - future with a broad focus on contributing factors and possible solutions. Floodlight Vision is a frame of mind that is open- minded, non-judgmental, and optimistic. Floodlight thinking is an intentional process used to open up our view. 4

6 COACH LEARNING EXPERIENCE # 9 Floodlight Vision “Spotlight” thinking is described as left-brain thinking. Traditional behavior management is Spotlight thinking. “Floodlight” thinking is described as right-brain thinking. Success planning & Emotional First-Aid is Floodlight thinking. 6

9 Spotlight Vision- Left Brain Floodlight vision - Right Brain Vision is on problems Focus is on elimination of target behaviors Success is determined by data Supports are about the words in the plan Focus on consequences Vision is on solutions Focus is on well-being Success is determined by being able to experience a good day Supports are about relationships & opportunities Focus on success 9

10 Flood Light Vision (Possibility Focused) The view is larger & extended The range of vision is very wide and focused on the long term The focus is future oriented The details are not always clear & focused leading to some discomfort Learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable keeps our “Floodlight Vision’ 10
