2. Brown vs. the Bixby Frog Planning Festival Case Facts  Four teens went to a local festival where they bought and consumed alcohol  They left the festival and went to a lake where one of the teens injured their foot  One of them suggests to break into a nearby empty cabin

3. Case Facts  The teens break into the cabin and bandage the injures foot  Two teens get and consume more alcohol from the refrigerator  They begin to “play around”, which results in valuables in the cabin being damaged

4. Case Facts  The owners return to the cabin and spent $100,000 on repairs  The teens were identified and charged with vandalism, paid $400 for restitution, and sentenced to eighty hours of community serves  The Browns sued the planning committee for failure to prevent alcohol sale to teens and causing the damages to their property

5. Case Law  Hacker vs. Anytown American Legion No. 600  When a person consumes illegally obtained alcohol and then causes harm to another person, the seller is liable for the damages if the alcohol contributed to the damages

6. Case Law  Martinez vs. Smith  If someone sells alcohol illegally and the purchaser becomes intoxicated and then harms someone, the seller is liable as long as the alcohol was a contributing factor

7. Case Outcome  The outcome of this case should have been that the Bixby Frog Planning Committee should have been held responsible for the damages done to the brown’s cabin
