3 Why create parental accounts? – Parents can play an active role in their child’s learning – School information can be easily communicated. – Forums can be used for discussion, queries & feedback – Events can be displayed in the calendar – You have the option to let parents view their children’s emails Once parents have their own accounts you can link them to their children. The advantages of including parents in the platform include:

4 Step 1: Logging in as a teacher and click on the Administration tool box Creating parental accounts in bulk

5 Step 2: Next to the pupil accounts folder select [Actions] and then select the on the ‘Export accounts’ button to create a CSV file of all of the pupil accounts. Step 3: The csv file will look something like the below:

6 Step 4: Create a new CSV (or using the downloadable Parent Account Creation Spreadsheet – available from the online help guide) Step 5: Complete the first and last names of the parents in the correct column. Leave the username and password fields empty as this will be automatically populated by the learning platform. The role has to be completed with the word ‘Parent’ and the theme ‘Parental’ Using the first spreadsheet that was exported from the learning platform, copy and paste the child’s username into the Child1 column for the parent accounts. (This is highlighted on the previous page) Please note – if a parent has more than one child at the school then you can place their second child’s name in the child2 column, third child’s name into the child3 column and so on. Save the spreadsheet as a CSV (Comma Delimited) file. Step 5: Complete the first and last names of the parents in the correct column. 9 Step 2: Click on the ‘Create a new parent account’ button located on the right hand side of the screen. Make sure you select the smiley face on the ‘Parent Accounts’ row. Step 3: Fill in the parents details with: First name Last name The username will automatically be populated. Step 4: Click on the ‘Suggest a password’ for the learning platform to automatically suggest a 6 letter password.

10 Linking the parent to their child Step 1: Click on the ‘Linked Pupils’ tab Step 2: Pupils with the same name will be presented to you. Tick the check box to match the pupil to the parent and then click on the ‘Link’ button Step 2: Pupils with the same name will be presented to you. 11 Step 3: Confirmation of the link will be presented. Click on the Green arrow pointing to the left on the left hand side.
