3 Carlos Santana Born in Jalisco, Mexico as Carlos Augusto Alves Santana on July 20th, 1947 At the age of 5, Carlos was taught how to play the violin, and guitar by his father. Later to become a famous rock guitarist His band “Santana” became famous in the late 1960’s He plays mix of music that includes Rock, Latin Rock, Blues Rock, Funk, and Jazz 10 time Grammy winner At a young age Carlos was heavily influenced by Ritchie Valens – a rock and roll artist, and a forefather of the Chicano Rock Movement.

5 Ritchie Valens Born on May 13, 1941 as Ricardo Esteban Valenzuela Reyes Mexican-America singer, song writer, and guitarist He was most famous during the Chicano Rock Movement Rock hall of fame in 2001 As a kid he heard a lot of mariachi music, native to Mexico He was eager to learn how to play the guitar Lead guitarist in a band called The Silhouttes Was most famous for his song “La Bamba” He was most influenced by one of his fellow musicians, Buddy Holly They both died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959

Grew up in Texas, and was given the nickname Buddy by his parents American singer song writer Pioneer of rock and roll He was quoted as “the single most influential creative force in early rock and roll” Inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 He was most influenced by Elvis Presley Died in a plane crash with fellow musician Ritchie Valens on February 3, 1959

He was a boxer as a kid until the age of 12 After giving boxing up he worked as a stock boy He sang with local bands and called him self “Dino Matini” He was a major star in four areas of show business Recordings, Concerts, TV shows, and Motion Pictures Was most famous for his songs “That’s Amore”, and “A Mambo” Was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2009 Died on December 25, 1995 in Beverly Hills, California
