2 Standard 1 Creativity and Innovation Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

3 How this standard can be included in instruction: One of the many ways that the instructor can include standard one into the instruction is by having small groups of learners create an educational game for the another small group of learners to play using technology. By having the students do this, they are not only using their creative thinking skills and constructing knowledge but are also working collaboratively.

4 ASSURE Model Analyze Learners-The learners will be analyzed previous to the assignment. Each of the students will have enough knowledge to be able to create the game using some form of technology. Any of the students who seem like they may need a little extra help will be paired with the more advanced students. State Objectives-Students will be able to demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. Select Methods, Media and Materials-For this assignment, several forms of media and materials will be available to the learners. The learners will select what they need to use to create their game and it is the instructors duty to be sure that all of the resources that they may need are available. Utilize Media and Materials- For this assignment, the students will be utilizing the different media and materials in order to create a game. By the time this assignment is given, the students will be comfortable with the different types of media that they will be using. Require Learner Participation- The learners will be participating through the group assignment that they are given. Evaluate and Revise-The instructor should evaluate the students throughout their project by observing them and making notes. Notes of things that are working well and things that are not should also be kept. This will help the instructor revise this assignment and improve it for the future.

5 Standard 2 Communication and Collaboration Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

6 How this standard can be included in instruction: A great way to incorporate standard two is through the use of pen pal. The learners will write to other learners all over the world. This is a great way to get them to work collaboratively and also a great way for the learners to teach things to and learn things from each other.

7 ASSURE Model Analyze Learners- The learners will be analyzed previous to the assignment. Each of the students will have enough knowledge to be able to write their pen pal. At times, the students will be given writing ideas if they can not think of their own. The students will also understand how to use whatever form of technology that they chose to correspond to their pen pal. State Objectives-Students will be able to use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. Select Methods, Media and Materials- The media that and materials that will be used for this assignment are computers, the internet, and email. Utilize Media and Materials- The students will be utilizing the computers, internet and email to write to their pen-pal. By the time this assignment is given, the students will be comfortable with the different types of media and materials that they will be using. Require Learner Participation- The learners will be participating through the letters that they write. Evaluate and Revise-The instructor will be evaluating the students throughout their project by reading some of their letters and making sure that they are on track before they are sent. The instructor should also make notes of things that are working well and things that are not. This will help the instructor revise this assignment and improve it for the future.

8 Standard 3 Research and Information Fluency Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.

9 How this standard can be included in instruction: An instructor can incorporate standard three into their instruction by assigning the students a research topic. Example: The instructor will assign the students a different historical figure and each of them is responsible for finding out a variety of information about this person and presenting it to the class, preferably dressing like the person. This assignment is great because it is very memorable for the students and they are able to learn about many people and only have to research one.

10 ASSURE Model Analyze Learners- Any student who needs help with this assignment will receive help from the teacher and their peers. The teacher can also supply materials that will help guide the learner in the right direction. State Objectives-Students will be able to apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information. Select Methods, Media and Materials- The students will be using any type of device that is internet accessible. The learners will be given different sites that may aid in their research. Utilize Media and Materials- The students will be utilizing the internet and an internet accessible device in order to perform their research. Require Learner Participation-The students will be participating in the assignment through their research and the presentation of the research. Other students will also be asking questions of the presenter after the presentation. Evaluate and Revise- The instructor will be evaluating the students throughout their project and assisting them with their research if they need it. The instructor will also evaluate them through their presentation and any of the written work that they have done. Notes should also be taken of things that are working well and things that are not. This will help the instructor revise this assignment and improve it for the future.

11 Standard 4 Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.

12 How this standard can be included in instruction: For standard four, the instructor can offer the students a complex math or science problem and have them conduct research and use their critical thinking skills to solve the problem. The learners will be given a variety of technology and resources to choose from in order to complete their research.

13 ASSURE Model Analyze Learners-The students will be given enough information and instruction prior to the assignment in order to successfully complete the assignment. Any student that doesn’t fully understand the assignment or what is asked of them will be accommodated for through the teacher assisting them. State Objectives-Students will be able to use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources Select Methods, Media and Materials- The methods, media and materials will consist of computers and internet research. Utilize Media and Materials- The students will be utilizing computers and the internet in order to solve their problem. Require Learner Participation- The learners will participate when they are researching. They will also be participating when they are sharing information or findings with their classmates. Evaluate and Revise- The learners will be evaluated through instructor observation while they are researching. The instructor will also make notes of things that are working well and things that are not. This will help the instructor to revise this assignment and improve it for the future.

14 Standard 5 Digital Citizenship Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior.

15 How this standard can be included in instruction: In order to incorporate standard five, the instructor can create an internet scavenger hunt. The hunt would lead the students to different areas of the internet and question them whether or not certain things are ethical or legal.

16 ASSURE Model Analyze Learners- The students will be analyzed prior to the assignment and accommodations will be made. None of the students should have a hard time because the scavenger hunt would be easy for most students to follow. If problems do arise, the teacher and their peers will be available to assist the student. State Objectives-Students will be able to understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior. Select Methods, Media and Materials- The students will be using the internet and a computer to do the scavenger hunt. Prior to the scavenger hunt, the instructor will use the Smart Board or a document camera to give the students better ideas about plagiarism and ethical behaviors. Utilize Media and Materials-The students will be utilizing the computer and internet while doing their scavenger hunt. Require Learner Participation- The students will be participating through the scavenger hunt and during the instructor presentation. Evaluate and Revise- The instructor will be evaluating the students throughout the assignment and assisting them if they need it. The instructor will also evaluate them through their scavenger hunt findings. Notes of things that are working well and things that are not. Should also be kept by the instructor. This will help the instructor to revise this assignment and improve it for the future.

17 Standard 6 Technology Operations and Concepts Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.

18 How this standard can be included in instruction: Standard six can be in the form of a final project. This will be a chance for the instructor to see how much the students have learned about technology concepts, systems, and operations The instructor can let the students choose whatever topic they would like their research to be on and require that their final project is in the form of some type of viewable presentation. The instructor also should require them to use at least three types of “tools” in their presentation. This is a fun culminating experience for the learner and a great way for the instructor to assess.

19 ASSURE Model Analyze Learners- The students will be analyzed prior to the assignment and accommodations will be made. None of the students should have a hard time because the project is completely student centered with a couple guidelines for them to follow. If problems do arise, the teacher and their peers will be available to assist the student. State Objectives-Students will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. Select Methods, Media and Materials- The instructor will provide an array of different media, methods and materials for the students to research with such as iPads, computers, etc. Utilize Media and Materials-The students will be utilizing the media and materials that they choose when the do their research. Require Learner Participation-The learners will be participating while researching and making their presentation. Evaluate and Revise-The students will be evaluated throughout the assignment and assisted if they need it. The instructor will also evaluate them through their presentation that they create. The instructor will also make notes of things that are working well and things that are not. This will help them to revise this assignment and improve it for the future.
