2 The Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 came into force on 1 st September, 2005 AFFECTs virtually everyone New Emphasis – Positive Action H&S must be ‘Managed’ and Integrated

3 The ACT requires: To ensure safety and health at work To manage and conduct work activities safely To prevent improper conduct/behaviour Prevent risks from : Noise Vibration Radiation Any other Physical agent And Chemical & Biological agents Revise Systems of Work As Necessary

4 The Law : Biological Agents Regulations of 1994 & 1998. The Requirement is to;- Risk Assess AND Control the Risk so as to:- Protect workers at work

5 RISK ASSESSMENT is the KEY Site specific, Task specific, Take account of the worker, Take account of the location Must have : Training, Supervision & Instruction
