1 WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS

2 SUMMERY This is an excellent book filled with thoughtful and humorous poems. Who knew poetry could be so much fun? The author, Shel Silverstien is the creator of many other books, as well as this one. If you love poetry (and even if you don’t), this book will surely make you smile.

3 RESEARCH For the research piece of my R and E, I made a bookmark listing all of my favorite poems in the book.

4 EXPLORATION For my exploration, I researched more about Shel’s most famous book, the Giving Tree. The book The Giving Tree is about a little boy who loves a magical tree. He only wants simple things from it. Such as leaves, sliding down it’s trunk, and eating apples. But as the boy grows older, he asks for more things from the tree. These things include a house, and a boat. This keeps going on until the giving tree has nothing left to give the boy. It is only a stump. What happens next? Read the book to find out.
