5 Employee Development Initiatives Positive Organizational Scholarship (POS)- is an exceptional example of what company-wide employee development can do for a company, and how it can be beneficial. “It focuses explicitly on the positive states and processes that arise from, and result in, life-giving dynamics, optimal functioning, or enhanced capabilities and strengths. This approach focuses on both an individual’s and an organization’s strengths and virtues” (Pace, 2010 p.42). POS Domains of Excellence Virtuousness Positive Leadership (4 Strategies) Positive Climate, Positive Relationships, Positive Communication, & Positive Meaning

6 Employee Development Initiatives In the article (Pace, 2010 p.42) a physician billing department at a large community hospital in the central United States exercised a principle of POS through compassion for one of the employees who had lost three close relatives. They rallied together to get a formal system that allowed them to donate vacation and personal time for her to be off.
