5 William B. Travis Born in South Carolina. On August 9,1809. Studied law and practicing attorney. William married Rosanna Cato age 19. Click Here

6 William B. Travis William and Rosanna had a family. He became a mason. Left his family behind. Joined the militia. Headed to Texas in 1831. Click Here

7 Battle at the Alamo There was trouble between Mexico and Texas. William joined the Texas forces. He took orders from the Governor. William and 30 men entered the Alamo. He took command of the militia. Click on the picture

8 Alamo William wanted more reinforcements. Little reinforcement came before the fall. William and 180 defenders at the Alamo. William B. Travis died at age 26. Texas Independence on March 6, 1863. Symbol for courage and heroism. Click on the picture.

10 David Crockett David joined the army in 1813. He served under Andrew Jackson. David represented Tennessee in U.S. Congress. Wrote is own autobiography in 1834. He ended political career in 1836. David moved his family to Texas. Click to continue

11 The Alamo David and 200 Texans volunteered. They tried to defending the Alamo. The battle lasted 13 days. David died on March 6, 1836. David Crockett help Texas win its independence. Click on the picture.

12 James Bowie Born in Kentucky. On April 10, 1796. He lived in Missouri and Louisiana. James was a slave trader. Legendary fight in Louisiana “Sandbar Fight.” He is known for Bowie Knife. Click on the picture.

13 James Bowie James moved to Texas. He married Ursula Veramendi. James and Ursula had a family. Due to epidemic James’s family dies. Texas Revolution, James joins the militia. Click here to continue

14 The Alamo James came with 30 men. There were not enough supplies. Wrote letters asking for help. Needed men, money, and cannon powder. James Bowie died at the Alamo. Click on the picture.
