8 8 Simplify before Multiplying If the numerator and denominator have a common factor, we can simplify before we multiply.

9 Copyright(c)Ed2NetLearning. Inc 9 Example – Simplify before multiplying Find 1/3 x ¾ 1 x ¾ 3 =¼=¼ 1 1 The numerator 3 and the denominator 3 have common factor 3 Divide both the numerator and denominator by 3

10 Copyright(c)Ed2NetLearning. Inc 10 EXAMPLE – 2 Find ¾ x 4/9 ¾ x 4/9=3 x 4 4 9 =1=1 3 1 1 1 3
