3 COURSE PRESENTATION Hello dear students, my name is Cristian Quintero, I have a Bachelor in Modern Languages and I am specialist in Pedagogy for the Autonomous Learning Development, I’ve been teaching english at different levels for more than 15 years, I’m working as a director and tutor of some courses of the Bachelor of English as a Foreign Language at UNAD. This course provides you different theoretical concepts which will allow you to know the main issues involve in Materials Design for Virtual Environments.

4 PURPOSE The course provides students, by means of the accomplishment of different types of works, which imply the use of the Information and Communication Technology - ICT, a scenery to learn and deep on the basic concepts, general issues and its importance for the succeed of learners, when designing material for virtual environments, in addition, students are prepare on the necessary competences and skills to be able for designing didactic materials for virtual contexts.

5 COMPETENCES General Course Competence: Students are able to identify, analyze and understand the basic concepts involved in the designing of materials for virtual environments and bring them onto the practice, by means of some individual and collaborative tasks, to be aware of the importance of using updated media and to develop certain skills in the design of specific material for virtual contexts in order to succeeded on the teaching process.

6 COMPETENCES Cross competences: Participants identify the importance of the TIC as one very important tool to support their academic process, by searching for some information to reinforce and present their points of view. Students can use the English language properly to express their points of view, in writing and oral way through the interaction in the course activities; and they are able to understand the contents given in the course and the speech of their e-partners and tutor in the synchronous or asynchronous communication.
