Water Services Trust Fund Characteristics of Urban Poor Concept + Use of formal and professional institutions = Water Service Providers + WSPs under increasing regulatory framework: Regulated prices, quality, incentives and fulfillment of human rights  SUSTAINABILITY and HUMAN RIGHTS + Implementation mechanism: Nationwide call for proposals + all WSP submit proposals and compete; best proposals evaluated with range of criteria  AID-EFFECTIVENESS AND EFFICIENCY (Paris Declaration) + Development of national concepts and standards that are binding for all Donors and NGOs in line with National Strategies  ALIGNMENT + Use of appropiate technology and clear poverty-orientation  FAST-TRACKING OF ACCESS AND UPSCALING

Reaching the urban poor Preparation of large-scale implementation tools through pilot projects with GTZ: Pilot Water Service Providers: Naivasha WSSC, Oloolaiser WSC, Mavoko EPZA Results: - Total No. Of Water Kiosks: 16 - Estim. Beneficiaries (additional access to safe water): 17119 - Budget: 7 Mio KES – 77,000 Euro + using WSTF concept: Nzoia WSC with 6 Kiosks and 6000 beneficiaries - 2 Pilot public sanitation facilities in Naivasha (1) and Oloolaiser (1) - Community mobilization - Formation project task teams (with key-stakeholders, leaded by WSP)
