5 Counseling Choose a time and place that is convenient for both parties Be knowledgeable of the people you are counseling Require Brag Sheets (format in The Word) Do not go over FITREPS with other MIDN, they are for the MIDN and Chain only

6 Mid-Term Counseling First round FITREP must be filled in, reviewed, signed by MIDN, and turned in Identify strengths and shortcomings Address performance problems Present a performance growth plan Ensure member understands their performance Review what is required before next period MAKE SURE TO PROVIDE EXAMPLES

7 Grading Your Subordinates Guard against grade inflation Leave room for improvement Order subordinates from best to worst, make the median MIDN average Stay consistent and objective Grade based on criteria presented, not on outside circumstances
