2 The BIG Ideas To study the history of Michigan, you have to ask questions like: what happened?, when did it happen?, who was involved?, how did it happen? Events in the history of Michigan were linked together. Events in the history of Michigan have both causes and effects. Many different people were important in the early history of Michigan.

3 Let’s review the six chronological sections of early Michigan history shown on the timeline. As a way of reviewing what they have learned in this unit, we will work together to create a People Timeline.
