2 INTRODUCTION The football is the most popular sport in the world. Being a football player has advantages like be famous, high salaries, travel around the world. And also has some disadvantages like injuries, be tired physically or risk to be kicked out the club. A football player can play in a club of their city (for example: Real Madrid, FC Barcelona) and if they are good they can be called to play for their country and participate in international tournaments. You dont need any studies or college, you only need to be good at the sport and be physically capable to play. The job duties rely on the position that you are playing, every position has a different role in the field. But if you want to be a football player you will need to train everyday and everyweek, you will do hard workouts and keeping fit We will show you this job with more details in our presentation.

4 DEFINITION AND CHARACTERISTICS Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer,is a sport played between two teams of eleven players with a spherical ball. The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing goal. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match wins. If the score is level at the end of the game, either a draw is declared or the game goes into overtime and/or a penalty shootout depending on the format of the competition.

5 There are 10 field players and 1 goalkeeper, the field players cant touch the ball with their hands or arms. Only the goalkeeper can touch the ball with the hand, but only when he is in their área. The positions of the field players are: Defender Midfielder Forward Each position plays a different role and has a unique playstyle.

6 PLACES WHERE YOU CAN STUDY AND WORK You dont need to study a career or get a college degree to play football. All you need is the required skills and physical conditions. You work in a stadium that can be the stadium of your city or the stadium of the opponent team

7 PROS AND CONS PROS: High Salaries Be famous Good physical condition Luxuries like cars, houses, etc Dont need any study Cons: Injuries (some injuries are the end of your career) After some years you will feel tired

8 JOB DUTIES As we said before, the duties depends on the position that you are playing. The roles are: Goalkeeper: is the only person that can touch the ball with the hand. His duty is to stop the goal attempts from the other team Defense: They play behind the midfield. Their duty is to steal the ball from the opponent and avoid that the other players arrive to the goal Midfielder: They play in the middle of the field. Their duty is to create goal opportunities and pass the ball to the forwards Forward: They play nearby the opponent area. Their duty is to make goals

9 SKILLS NEEDED To play football you need to dominate some skills like: Pass the ball without the opponent can steal the ball Defend the area and steal the ball

10 Save the shots from the other team Know how to move the ball and shoot it

11 SALARY The salaries in the world of the football can be normal salaries, but there are some salaries that are very high. For example: Jorge Valdivia signed a contract with FC Al-Wahda for two-seasons and a US$2.8 million salary per year. Lionel Messi has a contract with the FC Barcelona for US$22.000.000

12 EXAMPLES Cristiano Ronaldo He started his career at the age of 8, when he played for the amateur team Andorinha. Then he moved to the Sporting CP and participated for Portugal in the 2002 European Under-17 Championship. In the 2003-04 season he signed in the Manchester United. He played in England and became a superstar in that team, growing as a player and person everyday. In the 2009-10 season he signed with the Real Madrid, in this team he has broken many records and became a world superstar.

13 Lionel Messi He started to play when he was very Young, in a city team called “Newls” Later, due to health problems he flew to Spain and was tested in the FC Barcelona Since then, he played in this team and became a international superstar and considered the best player in the world. He has won many titles and has been featured in many competitions by his excellent performance

14 CONCLUSION The associaton football is a sport that need many skills, has pros and cons like any other career and dont need any study. But if you are good at the sport and physically capable you can try playing football. And if you succeed you will be earning millions of dollars, being famous and you will do what you like.
