Optical illusion are images that use your EYES to confuse your BRAIN

Did you notice the small grayish dots between the black boxes? They were put there by your brain! Scientists call this "visual vibration."

This elephant is missing a leg...or is it? The artist confuses his viewer by changing they way our brain is used to seeing things.

Look at the dots in the center. Which one is bigger? Like many similar illusions, the dots are the same size...really! It can be hard to tell because your eye uses the other dots to make a comparison.

Check out the spiral...except it is not a spiral, just circles. The tilt of the boxes fools your brain into believing it is a spiral.

Want to see the gears move? Look at the dot and then move your head towards the screen and away from it.

This simple line drawing is titled, "Mother, Father, and daughter" (Fisher, 1968) because it contains the faces of all three people in the title. How many faces can you find?

Hey, this is weird. It looks as though it's moving, but it's not. The shapes confuse the eye (really the brain) into believing that they are moving.

This illusion uses conflicting images from each eye to fool your brain into thinking there is spinning.

Cafe Wall This gives the impression that the tiles are wedge-shaped, however, the lines are actually parallel, all the tiles are perfectly square and of the same size.

Kanisza’s Triangle The blue “pac” people define by their cutout wedges an apparent triangle, which seems to hover above the background.

Hidden message BAD EYES Blurring the image by squinting will reveal an unexpected message.

Hidden Figure- Dalmatian Dog Observe the picture on the right. What do you see? Are there are just black patches on a white background?

Enigma Stare at the center of the figure for a while. Some ‘scintillating’ activity will build up in the violet and blue rings. Some observers also report a circular rotation within these regions; things will begin to “run around in circles”.

Can you find the Lady?

Poggendorff Illusion The two ends of a straight line segment passing behind an obscuring rectangle appear offset when, in fact, they are aligned.

Visual Training for the Eye Visually Impaired People (VIP) can be improved on with practice

2.1 What do you see first? Write the number down for each picture and record what image you see first, then try to see the other image.
