1 Kurt Krempetz (Director's Review - Dec. 7, 99) 1 Mechanical Infrastructure Kurt Krempetz Introduction Existing Systems New Systems Schedule Manpower Conclusions

2 Kurt Krempetz (Director's Review - Dec. 7, 99) 2 Introduction Definitions:  Mechanical/Cryo/Gas Infrastructure- Components/systems which are needed to operate the D0 detector and subdetectors. These are cooling systems, Heating, Ventilation, Air, Conditioning(HVAC) systems, and hoisting/drive systems.  Installation- Placing components in their proper positions and performing a minimal testing program. Minimal testing includes pressure testing, leak testing, and a checkout of the basic operation of the component.  Commissioning- First time operation of the system which includes obtaining safety approvals, pump and purging of systems, developing process operations, and debugging. This does not include operations.

23 Kurt Krempetz (Director's Review - Dec. 7, 99) 23 Conclusions  Existing System are in need of some maintenance but basically in good condition.  New systems are not needed yet but will be very soon.  Manpower for the new systems has been under estimated.  Limited manpower has been available to work on new systems.  Manpower must be available to work on these new systems or the current schedule will not be met.
