Seite 3 Regional Consultations - Results  The Wachstumsregion Ems-Achse sees the necessity to strengthen the offshore wind industry in the Northwest of Lower Saxony.  Especially for Emden, with its port, which is used for several wind farms in the German bay as a base for the pre-assembly, transportation and maintenance of the off- shore wind turbines, the offshore industry is an important economic factor.  The city of Emden together with their regional stakeholders has decided to focus on four OSW topics namely “education”, “infrastructure”, “raising awareness” as well as “supply chain / value chain”. These topics have been identified as particularly relevant for the future development of the sector in the Emden region.

6. Seite 6 Implementation Plan 1. What is the current policy on offshore wind in your region? Fields of action for the strengthening of the regional basis of the OSW in the Ems-Axis: -Development of port infratructure and the supply chain development -Skills initiative -Network On condition that the named measures are taken, positive employment effects and revenues of the OSW in the Ems- Axis can be expected in the long-run. However, in order to tap the full potential of the OSW industry in the future, the Emden region has to further improve the framework conditions for the industry in a consequent way.
