2 Manifest Destiny Definition-the belief or doctrine, held chiefly in the middle and latter part of the 19th century, that it was the destiny of the U.S. to expand its territory over the whole of North America and to extend and enhance its political, social, and economic influences. Who came up with the slogan- John l. O’Sullivan in 1845.

3 Oregon Country Where is it- huge area of land between the pacific ocean and the Rocky Mountains north of California. States that came from it- Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming. Treaty it was from- Treaty with Great Britain. Oregon Trail- 2,000 miles, Mississippi Valley, Great Plains and Rocky Mountains

What happened at the end of the battle?- Santa Anna Signed a treaty that recognized the independence of Texas. Why did Andrew Jackson refuse to annex Texas?- The nation of another slave state would upset the balance of slave and free states in congress. When did Texas become a state?- December 29, 1845. Who was the president of the United States when Texas became a state?- John Tyler.
