Make notes in the margin of the paper. Take turns discussing your notes with your reviewing partner. Mary will circulate around the room.

5 Verb Homework Review What is a verb? An action word or a word of being (to be) This does not mean, however, that all action words are verbs. 1.Running water filled our basement. ADJECTIVE (modifies the meaning of water) 2.Running (To run) is his favorite form of exercise. NOUN (acts as the subject of the sentence) 3.John was running to the store when he dropped his wallet. (VERB, part of the verb of the sentence) How can you spot a verb when you see one?

6 Mary’s Two-Step Sure-Fire Method for Sniffing out “the Verb” Handout & Workshop 1.Identify and remove all prepositional phrases 2.Change the tense of the sentence WITHOUT CHANGING THE WORDING. The verb will be the only word to change. 3.Trickiness, of course, is always a problem in more complex sentences.

7 Homework Due, Tuesday, Oct. 29 h 1.Study for a quiz on your second library lesson, The ABCs of Online Media. Write Cornell notes on the lesson You will allowed to use the Cornell notes but nothing else when you take this quiz. 2.Watch this 11 minute video twice: “Changing Educational Paradigms.” (A paradigm is a structure for thinking about something)Changing Educational Paradigms Watch the video with someone else. Don’t worry about getting all the content the first time you see it. Just watch and take it all in. Don’t worry about the vocabulary. Just watch. Watch it again and then talk about it with the person you watched it with. Take just a few sketchy notes. We’ll watch it again in class on Tuesday.
