Producers are photosynthetic and produce glucose using energy from the Sun.
Consumers must get their energy by eating producers or other consumers.

6. After the producer a food chain can have one, two, three or more levels of consumers called primary consumers, secondary consumers and tertiary consumers.

7. The producer is the first energy level or first trophic level
The producer is the first energy level or first trophic level. The primary consumer is the second trophic level. The secondary consumer is the third energy level and so on.
