8. The expression “true blue” comes from the blue cloth that was made at Coventry England in the Middle ages. The town’s dyers had a reputation that the town’s for producing cloth that didn’t fade when washed. The cloth remained “true blue.” An expression developed “as true as Coventry blue.”
