2 Topic Review In the past 11 months we reviewed the following topics: Walking Surfaces, Lighting, Worker Safety, Electrical Safety, Preventing Falls, Hand Tools, Stairs, Ladder Safety, Pools, Lifting Procedures, Blood Borne Pathogens Does Safety Matter? You bet it does….

3 Worker Compensation Results When we measure average number of work-related incidents by quarter for a two year rolling period leading up to October each year we have seen a dramatic decrease in average number of work-related incidents. 5 Focus for the Next 12 Months Continue to work safely!  Your efforts have had a great impact on the overall program including employee safety and morale as well as insurance premiums Continue to pay attention to what you are doing, how you are doing it, your surroundings and other employees

6 General Liability Remember, General Liability incidents are incidents that happen to outside parties; such as guests, tenants and/or visitors. These can be anything from  slip and fall  an assault  fall down stairs  to theft, etc.

7 General Liability Results When we measure average number of liability incidents by quarter for a two year rolling period leading up to October each year we have not seen much of an impact. Following last year’s report of results, I challenged you to take a good hard look at practices and procedures and make the effort to help reduce exposure to our guests, clients, and residents. 8 General Liability – Type of Incidents In reviewing the total incidents, the following types of incidents continue to be the most common 2007 2008  Premise Liability - 25.24 %23.12 %  Auto Related -20.23 %20.60 %  Falls on Property - 10.82 %12.10 %  Slips and Falls - 10.38 %10.57 % * Premise liability is a miscellaneous category for incidents that are not otherwise specifically categorized. Auto Related usually has to do with vehicle damage, break-ins, vandalism, etc.

9 Focus for the Next 12 Months General Liability  Duty – we have a duty to provide a reasonably safe and secure environment  Please take time to evaluate your area for possible improvements. We all get in to a habit of getting from point A to B and rarely take the time to really view our surroundings with an eye towards improvement. SLOW DOWN - Take the time to look are your areas with a critical eye for improvement.

10 Focus for the Next 12 Months General Liability (cont.)  Your efforts greatly impact how your property is seen by the general public. Is it:  Clean,  Safe,  A place where you would feel safe having your kids play? If not then what can you do to help?
