2 To Set Up Your Base Location 1. Tap the Setup menu tab.

3 2. Tap Base Station.

4 3. Using the drop down arrows, select the control point the Base will be located at and the Base-Data Collector connection type (COM1 for serial cable, COM8 for Bluetooth). Tap Next when finished.

5 4. Using the drop down arrows, select Antenna type (type of receiver being used), Antenna height (distance between the top of the control point to the receiver), and Measured to (Base or Rim). Tap Next when finished.

6 5. Using the drop down arrows, select Radio type, Port, Baud rate, and Format. These should match the settings from your equipment set-up. Tap Next when finished.

7 6. Checkmark desired GPS receiver settings and tap Finish.

8 7. Tap Refresh/Find to see a list of Bluetooth devices within range.

9 8. Highlight the device name which corresponds with your Base receiver (by default, this is the receiver’s serial number). Tap Select when finished.

10 9. Once the Base has finished connecting with satellites there should be a message stating Base Started Ok. Tap Finish.

11 10. To connect to your Rover, tap the Survey menu tab.

12 11. Tap Connect.

13 12. Tap Refresh/Find to see a list of Bluetooth devices within range.

14 13. Highlight the device name which corresponds with your Rover receiver (by default, this is the receiver’s serial number). Tap Select when finished.

15 14. You should see the progress of the GPS connection.

16 15. Once finished, if the Base and Rover are communicating properly, the Base-Rover icon in the bottom left of your screen should be green. Red with no X means your Base and Rover are communicating and are still initializing. An X on the right-hand side means that the Base and Rover are not communicating. An X through both icons means that you have not connected to your Rover.

17 16. When finished with your GPS Rover-Base system for the day, you will need to disconnect from your Rover receiver before the Base receiver is turned off. To do this, tap the Survey menu tab.

18 17. Tap Disconnect.

19 18. You can confirm that GPS has been disconnected by looking at the Base-Rover icon in the bottom left corner of the main screen.
