2 Success criteria Build using the information sheets you need to work out where the ingredients of a bought pizza comes from Apply using the map of the world create a carbon footprint map, using the map of the world, then create an ingredients supply source within a fifty mile radius of Knottingley Secure you should end up with a detailed A3 sheet with all the information needed to explain the issues associated with buying and using local and foreign food sources (which is the most sustainable? 3 Questions relating to sustainability and the environment 1. What is a moral issue? 2. What is a social issue? 3. What are environmental and sustainability issues? 1. 4 Social issues Some products encourage positive social issues, such as healthy eating, encouraging family interaction and including the needs of the disabled. Think about the social issues associated with the project you have completed! Are they all positive? 1. 5 Moral issues Include issues such as safety for the consumers. This must be a priority to ensure that the product you design is as safe as you can make it. You also need to think about how the product (s) will be made - manufactured. Many people believe that workers are often exploited, what does this mean? 1. 7 Environmental and sustainability issues 1. Making the products you have designed should be as environmenatlly friendly as possible this is important for everyone. 2. Why? 1. 8 Environmental and sustainability issues The materials you choose will have some impact on the environment Choosing timber from sustainable forests, how will this help? Using materials you can recycle, how will this help? Can you take apart and reuse the components in the product? Have the materials been sourced locally or globally? What about the energy consumer during the manufacturing of the product, be it food or any other? 1.
