3. The Main Characters Percy is a normal boy who will discover his true identity. He attends Yancy Academy, a boarding school, with his best friend Grover. Percy begins to have visions. One involves three ladies with gold scissors cutting a string. Grover tells Percy that this vision means someone will die. This is when Percy realizes he is not so normal after all! Percy discovers that his best friend Grover is actually a satyr, sent to protect him. They head to Camp Half Blood where Percy meets other key characters including his friends Annabeth and Luke, and Chiron, the Camp Half Blood Director and Trainer. Here, Percy begins to learn more about himself and his relationship to the Greek Gods. The Greek Gods are closer to Percy than he knows and Percy's Mom is trying to protect Percy as much as she can!

4. The Settings The story takes place in various settings. The main settings are Yancy Academy, Camp Half Blood and Hades. We first meet Percy at Yancy Academy, a boarding school. He then spends the summer at Camp Half Blood which is a camp for “demigods”. A demigod is a name for someone who has a God for one of his parents. Hades is another name for the Underworld. Here, Percy, Annabeth & Grover go on a quest to find the Lightning Bolt.

5. The Problem Zeus's Lightning Bolt has been stolen! But, that’s not all. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover have to go on a quest and they only have 10 days or Zeus will declare war! Will Percy retrieve the bolt in time? Read this book to find out!

6. 7 Major Events The attack of Ms.Dodds: Percy’s substitute teacher, Ms. Dodds, turns into a monster and attacks him! When Percy gets to Camp Half Blood: When Percy reaches Camp Half Blood, he realizes that it is not an ordinary camp. There is fighting, training, and even a game of Capture the Flag complete with magical items and swords. Percy figures out who he is: When he reaches Camp Half Blood, Chiron tells him about what it means to be a “Demigod”. He is placed in the “Unknown” Group until he discovers he has magical powers connected to water. Percy gets a quest with Annabeth and Grover: Percy figures out that Zeus thinks he is the Lightning Thief. To clear his name, Percy must find the true thief in 10 days or a war will begin. But first, Percy must free his mother from Hades! Chiron gives them permission to begin the Quest. They find the three Pearls: The Quest begins with three Pearls. The Pearls are to help them leave Hades once they find Percy’s mother. Hades underworld: While in Hades, they discover he may not only have Percy’s mother but also the lightning bolt. It ends up Hades has his mother but not the lightning bolt. Now, the three pearls come in handy. But, oh no! Three is not enough! Who will be left behind in Hades? Mount Olympus: When they figure out who the lightning thief is, there is a war with the lightning bolt. In the end, Percy has 5 minutes to spare. Will that be enough time ?

7. The Solution I can’t tell you if Percy got back or not, or if there was danger for any of them. But Percy and his friends step together and make a plan with some help from The Gods, who tell him to visit the Oracle. Percy visits the Oracle who tells him, “Someone who calls you a friend, will betray you”. Will Percy solve the riddle in time and return the Lightning Bolt to its rightful owner?
