2 Background EPE handbook for industry finalised in 2005 In 2005 the WG on Environmental expenditure statistics mandated a new Task Force to be created for the continuation of an EPE handbook for the government and specialised producers First meeting of the TF in March 2006 Following meetings held in May 2006 and in February 2007 E-mail correspondence in-between the meetings

4 The logic behind the chapters: The handbook covers 6 chapters, 7 annexes and 34 country examples Who is the handbook trying to capture? For proper identification of the target questions definitions need to be established, variables presented method of data collection is essential Introduction to how data can be analysed and presented

5 Overview 1.Introduction 2.Accounting and data reporting frameworks on EPE 3.The role of the different groups of producers 4.Definitions and classifications 5.Data collection and reporting methodologies 6.Presentation and interpretation Annexes: CEPA classification, JQ and EPEA tables, examples of budget lines and how they are classified, the Italian method for the functional analysis of EPE, Italian example of a decision tree, an example of the Bulgarian questionnaire, a description of variables used in the Belgian EPEA.

6 What happens now?
