7 Inherent Problem n The place and purpose of research or other grants in educational institutions is not usually emphasized in doctoral programs in business. Thus, it is not in the “culture” of most business colleges. n The availability of grants for business research or education is relatively minimal (there are some exceptions

8 Strategies n Appoint a motivated faculty member to: lead effort to develop a college culture that encourages obtaining grants; identify grant sources available to business faculty; and work with faculty to prepare proposals.
