Carbon Connor Burke

General Info. 0 Symbol: C 0 Atomic Number: 6 0 Atomic Mass: 12.0107 0 Group Number: 14 0 Classification: Non-Metal

0 Carbon has 2 energy levels 0 It has 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons

Physical and Chemical Properties 0 Physical state: Amorphous, graphite, diamond 0 Color: Black 0 Density: 2.2670 g/cm^3 0 Melting Point: 6422°F 0 Boiling Point: 6917°F 0 Reacts with: Carbon reacts with air, water, halogens, acids, and bases

Uses 0 Carbon is unique among the elements in its ability to form strongly bonded chains, sealed off by hydrogen atoms. 0 Carbon combines with some metals to make carbides such as tungsten carbide. Tungsten carbide is very, very hard and durable. This makes it desirable as tips for cutting tools such as drill bits. 0 Carbon is also used in charcoal, which is a source of fuel for a barbeque or a certain type of cooking.

History 0 Carbon is prehistoric 0 Has no known founder 0 The name is derived from the Latin ‘carbo’, charcoal 0 Carbon is called the “King of Elements” 0 In 1796, the English chemist Smithson Tennant finally proved that diamond was just a form of carbon.

Product 0 My product is Connor’s Charcoal 0 Two properties of this element that make it a good material for this product is: 0 Carbon can burn very well and easily 0 It gives off good heat, so you can cook “If it’s not Connor’s Charcoal, its not me!”
