5. WHAT IS BIOLOGY?? Biology comes from the Greek word:
bios, which means life
Ology, which means study.
A direct translation: biology is the study of life.

There are two systems to give you safety information. In your home you have the Hazardous Household Product Symbols (HHPS) on anything that might be hazardous in some way.
At work, at school, or in a science lab we have the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
