4 What is Science? The effort to discover, understand,
Albert Einstein The effort to discover, understand, or to better understand how the natural world works. You can think of it as trying to figure out why or how the natural world works. Anytime you ask the question “why” or “how”, you are being a scientist.

5 WHAT IS BIOLOGY?? Biology comes from the Greek word:
bios, which means life Ology, which means study. A direct translation: biology is the study of life.

17 SAFETY!!! There are two systems to give you safety information. In your home you have the Hazardous Household Product Symbols (HHPS) on anything that might be hazardous in some way. At work, at school, or in a science lab we have the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
