Enriched Art 10 Independent projects 2013

This project is based on the idea that students will explore personal development through their own artwork. Students are to choose a topic or subject that they feel they would like to explore further, more personally.

Once students have chosen a topic for their art portfolio, they will write a proposal for this independent project. This will outline the topic they have chosen and how they will represent, or express what they have learned through their art work. Students can choose any media (art materials) they wish to complete this project.

Different media include: ► Pencil ► Charcoal ► Pastels ► Chalk ► Pencil crayon ► Water colour pencils ► Water colour paints

► Acrylic paints ► Tempera paints ► Oil paints ► Paper Mache ► Clay Other?..........

*If there is a media that interests you, or even other art forms, but you cannot find it here, please discuss it with me and we will see if it might possibly be used. * Any media that the school does not normally carry must be supplied by the student. *All learning will be self directed, and independent, however the teacher will assist where s/he can.

The final requirements of this project will be: The initial independent project proposal. Due : November 18th th 2013 (Value 10) A minimum of 2 complete works of art, each corresponding to what was outlined in the student’s initial proposal. Due: January 15 th 2014 (Value 40) One half to one page written explanations / reflections of each art work. This piece of writing may detail the conception of the idea, the process of the work, the students thoughts on the process and the final product. Due January 15 th 2014 (Value 20) Total Value: 70

The Proposal: Your proposal should include a written description of your chosen subject, why you decided to choose this topic, and how you plan to explore it further. It should also include a written description of your chosen media, and why you decided on this media. If your chosen media is something new to you, or something we do not have at school, you need to include in your write up how you plan to obtain the materials you need, and how you plan to learn how to use them.

Any formal piece of writing will begin with an introduction, have a main body (in this case the proposal) and end with a conclusion. You will be marked on this format. All spelling and grammar will be marked as well. Clear expression of your ideas is necessary. Your proposal need not be longer than one page double spaced, but can be up to two pages if need be.

The art work: The works of art will be marked according to the principles and elements of design composition, creativity (in reference to your original proposal), along with craftsmanship, and effort. Your art work is worth 40 marks, and should be around the equivalent to 10 -20 hours of studio work. (Like 2 grid drawings). Composition…../10 Creativity..……/10 Craftsmanship /Skill and Consistency……………..…/10 Effort and perseverance…………/10
