The respiratory system supplies oxygen to the blood, and in turn to every cell in the body.

Air pressure causes our body to breath in and out, bringing oxygenated air into the lungs.
Air follows the pathway below:
Mouth/nose
Larynx
Trachea
Bronchi
Lungs

Within the lungs, the bronchi branch into smaller bronchi and even smaller tubes called bronchioles.
Once inside the lungs, oxygen is extracted from the air and passes to the blood stream, where it enters the cardiovascular system.

The breathing rate in women and children is faster than in men.
When you yawn more oxygen goes into your lungs.
Breathing is an involuntary action, controlled by air pressure and the diaphragm.

7. Fun Facts Our lungs can hold up to 6 liters of air.
The right lung is slightly larger than the left. Does anyone know why?
A person at rest usually breathes between 12 and 15 times a minute
