4 How do we work with USAID? USAID Mission commits to funding for partnerships Identify private sector opportunities Write scope of work and release solicitation that aligns with USAID objectives Organize and facilitate the application and evaluation process Conduct due diligence and negotiate performance-based agreement Draft and manage the agreement, including payments and reporting results Mozambique, Malawi, Guatemala, Ukraine, Benin, and Nigeria

7 Application Process Answer application questions - 12-page limit Budget and cost notes Organizational chart Optional: MOUs with other partners Solicitation issued late November with 60 days to submit proposal Target date to award and begin activities April 2016

8 Requirements Eligible to Mozambican-registered private sector companies. Projects must address access to improved inputs and technologies. Nampula, Manica, Tete, Zambezia. Projects must primarily benefit smallholder farmers. Oilseeds (soy, sunflower, groundnut), pulses (bean, cowpea, pigeon pea), bananas, cashews. Minimum of one to one matching cash and or in-kind contribution. Estimated two-year funding period.

9 Terms of Reference and Evaluation Criteria Program must be private sector-led, show market potential, improve small farmer access to technologies and/or markets Smallholder farmer impact: increases in agricultural productivity, sales revenue, employment and incomes Partnerships and organizational capacity Sustainability: commercially viable activity
